Cosmetic tattooing procedure which is a semi-permanent technique for enhancing the appearance of the eyebrows, eyelashes, lips in which pigment is scratched into the skin using a fine tiny blade or tattoo machine.
What is Eyeliner Tattooing?

Lash Line Enhancement – An eyeliner cosmetic tattoo will line the eyelid itself, a lash enhancement is simply a thin line that is tattooed through the lash line. This creates the illusion of thicker, darker lashes without looking like obvious makeup or eyeliner.
What is the procedure of an eyeliner tattoo?
We design and draw the perfect shape to compliment your natural features. You’ll approve the size, shape and colour before we proceed. And our treatments utilise the most precise and most gentle micropigmentation device on the market with specially formulated medical grade anaesthetics meaning there is little to no pain and no downtime.
There is no need to be nervous about having an eyeliner procedure. We are trained to carry out this ultra-fine technique ensuring our clients are comfortable and confident throughout the process. Very rarely do eyes swell from the procedures (you can head out for dinner that night!) and we apply beautiful nourishing eye care directly afterwards.
Does a cosmetic eyeliner tattoo make your eyes look bigger?
Yes. Dramatic styles, like a bold wing or thick eyeliner, or even a subtle lash line enhancement, can make your eyes appear bigger, draw attention to their shape and create a striking effect. We’ll design an eyeliner style that best complements your features — but you’ll have the final say on the size, shape and colour of your tattoo.
If you prefer a subtle way to enhance your eyes, a Lash Line Enhancement is an excellent option. Sometimes called invisible eyeliner, this treatment pigments tiny dots within the lash bed, creating the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes. It’s a natural-looking solution, especially for those with fair eyelashes, delivering definition without the look of traditional eyeliner.

A touchup is only needed if Eyeliner don’t heal perfectly or if you decide to make your Eyeliner darker. Touchups must only be between 7-8 weeks after your initial appointment.

What do I need to know before getting an eyeliner tattoo?
Before care is the prep you do before your procedure to make sure that your skin is in prime condition to accept pigmentation with little irritation or complications.
Before your appointment
- Avoid lash tinting, perming or curling for at least two weeks before your appointment.
- Discontinue the use of lash serums four weeks before your appointment to ensure your skin is ready for the treatment.
- Do not consume alcohol, drugs (other than those prescribed by your doctor). or caffeine within 48 hours of treatment.
- Do not take anything which thins the skin or blood or raises blood pressure such as fish oil or any Omega-3, magnesium, aspirin, niacin or Vitamin E before 48 hours beforehand.
- Don’t take any anti-inflammatories such as aspirin, paracetamol, or Ibuprofen at least 48 hours beforehand. All of these can raise blood pressure which is problematic to cosmetic tattooing.
- Do not have any abrasive skin treatments such as laser or dermabrasion within 4 weeks of your appointment.
- Do not use any skincare containing Retin-A/Retinol, AHA’s, Alpha Hydroxy or acids on your face for 48 hours before your appointment.
- Do not get your face sunburnt within 2 weeks of your appointment.
- Do not have any botox or anti-wrinkle injections to the upper face within 2 weeks of your appointment.
Healing Process & Aftercare Instructions For Eyeliner Tattoo
What to Expect:
The Eyes may look slightly swollen after the procedure and color will appear very dark. Over the next few days after the procedure, your cosmetic tattooing area may darken during the healing process. This is normal and this is not the way they will remain. This is very common for the procedure and part of the healing process.
In the following days, the treated area will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing and color shades. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and outcome of the procedure.
Your recovery will take approximately 1 week for the area to heal and about one month for the color to fully set in. You will see the color is very light or sometimes it seems that they have disappeared. THIS IS NORMAL!
Once you go through a skin cycle (4-6 weeks) the pigment will typically reappear but will be about 30-50% lighter than it was immediately after the procedure. True color will reveal itself once fully healed.
It is important to follow all aftercare instructions including the use of aftercare cream and any other post-procedure instructions. Also, please note the total duration of this time as the results of the healing process will adapt accordingly to the conditions of your lifestyle.
ALLERGIC REACTION OR INFECTION: It is rare, but there is a chance of allergic reaction or infection. If there are any types of irritation, rash, or bumps. Please, Stop using the ointment. You might be allergic or using too much of the ointment. At any time, you are uncomfortable please visit your physician.
AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Why is aftercare so important?
Aftercare is how you take care of the tattoo afterwards to ensure your fresh cosmetic tattoo heals well and to avoid infection.
Please follow these instructions for 10 days after the procedure to improve and prolong the results of your procedure.
Avoid getting anything on the treated area , including water, except for cleansing as directed.
Cleansing: For the first day after your procedure, 2-3 hours, wash treated area lightly with slightly damp Q-tips or Cotton pad with DABBING motions using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser or just water.
Apply a rice grained-sized amount of ointment once or more during the day.
What Not To Do During This Time:
- Avoid rubbing your Eyes.
- Limit sun exposure throughout the healing period and shield your eyes with sunglasses when outdoors.
- No other products should touch the Eyes during healing, other than after care balm.
- Avoid using daily skincare products around eye area.
- Do not pick or rub the treated area. The scabs/flakes must fall off on their own or you will risk removing the color and possibly scarring.
- Do not Engage in activities that cause excessive sweating or moisture, such as using saunas, soaking in hot tubs or engaging in strenuous exercise, during the first 10 days.
- No exercise for 2 weeks.
- No touching unless you have washed your hands thoroughly and keep the area clean to avoid infection.
- If skin becomes itchy, apply ointment to the spot using a cotton tip.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will I need a touchup?
The body registers the pigment as a foreign body that must be removed and during the healing process it works hard to remove the pigment, pushing it to the surface of the skin.
Much of the pigment is naturally sloughed off during the healing process following the initial procedure, and can sometimes cause patchy and lighter than desired results.
The touchup appointment imparts more pigment to the site, and reinforces shape and precision.

What is a Refresh Appointment?
Pigments in cosmetics typically last between 1 to 3 years, influenced by factors such as skin type, product usage, and lifestyle choices. Over time, these pigments may fade, prompting many clients to opt for Refresh Appointments to maintain the appearance of their eyeliner and ensure it remains vibrant and fresh.
How long does eyeliner tattoo last?
Eyeliner tattoos typically last between 1 to 3 years. The exact duration depends on skin type, lifestyle and age. Over time, the pigment will gradually fade and may require touch-ups to maintain its appearance.
How long does it take for tattoo eyeliner to heal?
The healing process for an eyeliner tattoo can begin within 24 hours. You may experience slight swelling, which typically subsides within 6 to 12 hours. Your eyelids may feel a bit heavy due to the anaesthetic, but it is generally safe to drive afterward.
Which colours can I use?
Black, brown/black and brown are the most appropriate colours to use around the eye area. Fairer complexions and redheads are more suited to browns.
Can I wear conventional make-up over my tattoo?
Yes. Once your tattoo has healed, you can wear make-up over the top of your tattoo but for day to day, there is no need.
Is eyeliner tattoo safe?
Eyeliner tattooing is safe when performed by trained specialists in a sterile environment. However, like any cosmetic tattoo, it is not entirely risk-free and may not be suitable for everyone. While individual responses to the procedure can vary depending on factors such as skin type, health conditions and lifestyle.
How long after getting an eyeliner tattoo can I wear mascara?
Avoid applying any makeup, including mascara, for the first 10 to 14 days following your eyeliner tattoo. This ensures that all microwounds have closed and you avoid infections from bacteria-laden mascara wands.
