What is SMP Scar camouflage & Alopecia?

Patchy hair loss is common among men and women, often appearing as random circular bald spots. We understand that scars on your scalp, whether from accidents, surgeries, hair transplants, genetic predisposition, stress, or conditions like alopecia can cause frustration and self-consciousness.

It is an innovative cosmetic procedure designed to conceal scars on the scalp effectively. Whether your scars are the result of accidents, surgeries, or previous hair transplants, SMP Scar Camouflage offers a solution to make them significantly less noticeable. It can be particularly helpful for individuals looking to wear shorter hairstyles or those who want to regain confidence by minimizing the appearance of their scars

To address this, we offer a safe and effective solution for scar camouflage and alopecia, ensuring 100% natural-looking results.

Skilled technicians use fine needles to deposit these pigments, creating tiny, natural-looking hair follicle impressions that blend seamlessly with your existing hair. This technique camouflages the scars by matching the pigments’ color to your skin tone and hair color.

What is Female Scalp Micropigmentation?

Hair loss in women is a common problem, especially if you see your hair thinning and hairline receding. But it can become a major source of anxiety and self-consciousness.

Scalp micropigmentation for women is a non-invasive, non-surgical hair loss treatment that involves the use of micro-needles to apply tiny dots with pigment to the scalp. The process is similar to tattooing, but the goal is to create the appearance of hair follicles rather than a design or image.

Scalp micropigmentation can be used to create the look of a fuller head of hair, camouflage scars on your scalp or bald patches, or even create the appearance of a full hairline. The process of injecting pigment into your scalp is usually across a handful of sessions

Step by step Guidance

SMP in process

Pre Treatment Care

One of the major benefits of Scalp Micropigmentation is the simple aftercare which requires little tono downtime! The procedural result from each treatment session will settle over a 7 day healingperiod. After this time you will generally be ready for the next session.

If you have any uncertainties regarding your general health or are dealing with unusual scalp conditions, it is advisable to seek a doctor’s clearance before beginning treatment.

Post Treatment Care

Gentle care for the treated area: Avoid rubbing, picking, or scratching the treated area or any scabs that
may form, as this can lead to uneven healing and less defined impressions. If you experience itching,
gently tap the area instead.

LONG-TERM AFTERCARE:

Exfoliate your scalp at least 2 times a month to remove dead skin cells and maintain the appearance of the pigments.
Avoid chlorinated pools, saltwater, saunas, and steam rooms for 3 week after treatment
Always wear SPF 50+ as UV rays can cause the pigment to fade.

Avoid using products that use a high concentration of alcohol. To tell how much alcohol is in a product check the label. On the labels, ingredients are listed in descending order of concentration. If alcohol is one of the first ingredients it is best to avoid it.

Avoid products with AHA as this will cause pigment to fade.

Maintenance:

SMP is a long-lasting solution to hair loss, but it may require occasional touch-up sessions to maintain its appearance over time. The frequency of touch-up sessions will vary depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and desired hair density.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long does SMP last?

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a semi-permanent treatment that can endure for over 10 years with appropriate care. However, as your skin naturally sheds its layers and absorbs the pigment over time, the treatment will gradually fade and necessitate touch-ups. Each individual’s scalp is unique, and various factors such as sun exposure and skin type—whether dry or oily—can influence the fading process.

  • On average, individuals will need touch-ups every 2 to 5 years to maintain the color.
  • Inkd SMP provides a 12-month treatment guarantee to address any fading or changes to your hairline,
allowing for a touch-up within the first year after your treatment.

Touch-ups consist of one session and will address all areas requiring blending, ensuring that your treatment

remains even and looking fresh.

Our 3D realism technique tattoo will resemble genuine hair follicles emerging from your scalp!

During the SMP treatment, we carefully match each client’s natural hair follicle size and color at the root. We utilize a variety of needle sizes and custom color shades to seamlessly integrate the tattooed follicles with your natural hair.

This approach ensures a result that is both natural and undetectable.

We also consider the client’s age and hair loss pattern, enabling us to blend into areas with potential future hair loss.

To achieve a seamless transition, we always fade the tattoo about an inch into the existing hair.

If clients experience additional hair loss, we can easily touch up the affected area and blend it with the current SMP.

If you have any completely bald areas on your scalp, the answer is generally: YES. We typically recommend shaving it down to a length of 0.5 to 1, as this is the most manageable length for our artists to work with. To achieve the best overall appearance, clients should maintain their shaved hair every 2 to 4 days to ensure a smooth transition between longer hair and the flat tattoo. For your convenience, we provide in-house shaving on the day of the treatment.

If a client has thinning hair and simply wants to add density, shaving is not required. This applies to women as well; there’s no need to shave your head since we can work between the hair strands.

Aftercare is simple. Keep the area clean and dry, and avoid direct sunlight during healing. Avoid shampoos, chemicals, submerging your head under water, excessive sweating for at least 4 days after treatment. Loose fitting hats can beworn immediately after treatment but you must allow your head to breath. Apply sunscreen outdoors going forward toprolong the life your your SMP. The needling of the micropigmentation stimulates the scalp and helps promote blood flow to the area so NO it doesnot damage existing hair follicles or prevent future growth for those considering hair transplants afterwards. In somecases it can even help to calm the appearance and discomfort of keloid scarring!

Most clients describe the pain from 2-5 out of 10, with the sensation being more of an annoying itch rather than feelingpainful. The front temples, hairline and sides of head tend to be the most painful because of the nerve endings inthose areas. Numbing cream is available for clients with very low pain tolerance.

Each SMP treatment is done over 2-4 sessions. This is to ensure we gradually build up and blend the tattoo, adjust thedensity and ink colour to create the most natural results. Sessions generally run between 2-4 hours depending on thearea we need to cover.

The majority of our clients complete their full treatment within 2-6 weeks depending on the treatment type. Ourgeneral timeline for treatments is 7-14 days in between treatments and 1+ month in between your previous session andfinal follow up session.

We leave a longer time before your final session as your skin regenerates every 28 days and we always adjust yourtattoo based on healed results. This method ensures our clients have the most natural looking long term healedresults. Our artist will advise you otherwise based on your skin type.
